It has come to the attention of some of the bailiffs on the Newport Canal that there are people night-fishing on stretches were this is strictly not allowed. Night-fishing is only allowed on the TAA stretch off Water Lane (the basin). All clubs' rules clearly state this fact. Anglers please note that if caught breaking these rules on any of the other stretches club memberships will be forfeit.

ADVERTISER JUNIOR ANGLING COMPETITION
This popular annual event will take place once again on the various stretches of the Newport Canal on Saturday, August 8.
As per usual there will be lots of trophies and prizes at the end, and anybody from the wider area around Newport can enter the competition in one of the three categories: Under 16's, under 12's or under 8's.
Entries are invited from young anglers from Telford, Stafford, Market Drayton etc.
The entry fee is still held at £1 per junior, and for an extra £1 a team can be entered to compete for one of the team trophies.
The draw is at 8.15am by the Black Shed on Water Lane (opposite the Cosy Hall) - fish 9am - 12noon. The presentation will be held in the Baptist Church on Water Lane after the match at approximately 1pm.
Further details will be printed nearer the date. An entry form is printed in this paper today and every week until the actual competition.
**Will all last year's perpetual trophy holders please return these now to Joan @ Newport Tackle (tel. 01952 820334) as a matter of urgency, so they can be sorted out for the competition. The deadline for handing in the trophies is Monday, July 20.
