AUDLEM AC
All the week-end rain did not stop the carp from feeding in Ian Watson's peg in the latest Audlem match, fished on Kingswell Pool. Fish to 5lb took his meat hook bait on peg 27, giving him a total weight of 39.8.0 to record his third victory on the venue, making him the King of Kingswell. Second was Gary Jones on peg 13 who had carp and skimmers for 16.12.0 on shallow fished bread. Melvyn Mynard was third on peg 3, thanks to some skimmers and three late carp for 12.13.0, also on meat.
HODNET AC
Hodnet seniors fished their latest match on Riley's Pool where Roger Yeomans at last got the better of Andy Peate to win with a fine net of carp to 5lb and skimmers on pellet and corn, weighing in at 32.6.0. Andy managed to put 15.8.0 of pellet fed skimmers and crucians on the scales for second place. Dave Watkins was third with an all crucian net of 10.8.0 on caster.

The new Environment Agency Rod Licence was due from April 1. Fees for 2009/10 are: Adults £26, Concessions £17.25, Juniors £5. These are available from Post Offices, by phone 0870 166 2662, or online @
www.environment-agency.gov.uk/fish. Make sure you have an up-to-date rod licence, fines are steep once you get caught without.

ADVERTISER JUNIOR ANGLING COMPETITION
This popular annual event will take place once again on the various stretches of the Newport Canal on Saturday, August 8.
Entries can be made in one of the age categories as on the form (under 8's, under 12's, under 16's), so everybody will have an equal chance.
Anybody from the wider area around Newport can enter the competition and entries from Stafford, Market Drayton, Telford etc. are expected again.
The entry fee is still held at £1 per junior, and for an extra £1 a team of four can be entered to compete for one of the team trophies.
As usual there will be lots of prizes and trophies to go around and sponsorship has been promised by some of the fishing tackle companies and the Environment Agencies.
The draw is at 8.15am by the Black Shed on Water Lane (opposite the Cosy Hall) - fish 9am - 12noon. The presentation of all the trophies and prizes will be held in the Baptist Church on Water Lane after the match at approximately 1pm.
An entry form is printed in this paper today and every week until the actual competition. If you would like to enter the competition please fill in the form and get it with £1 to Joan @ Newport Tackle as soon as possible.
